Study Finds 1.3M New Yorkers Used Marijuana Over the Last Year

Recreational Marijuana NYC

A new study regarding marijuana usage in New York City reveals that 1.3 million residents reported using marijuana within the last year. A majority of the residents are under age 34. There wasn’t much of a difference when it came to gender – those numbers were rather even, especially among teens.

The study also found that Caucasian residents used marijuana more than any other demographic group, NBC 4 News New York reported.

Of the Caucasian residents polled, 24.1% said they’d used marijuana in the last year. Only 14.1% of African Americans and 12.3% of the Latino demographic reported marijuana use.

Governor Cuomo is still set on legalizing adult-use marijuana as soon as possible. He’d like to see neighboring states adopt similar laws.

He said, “You don’t want people driving distances to buy marijuana products and then driving back.”
