New York Medical Marijuana Dispensary to Start Providing Deliveries

New York Marijuana Delivery Services

The New York medical marijuana program has had its share of opposition due to high prices, poor functionality and poor access. The dispensary Vireo Health is aiming to change that and will be launching a medical marijuana delivery service in the near future. Homebound patients and those suffering from extremely debilitating conditions will be able to have their meds brought right to their front door – if they live in one of the available zones.

Eight counties will be served, including all boroughs of New York City, according to Hamlet Hub. The panel that devised the delivery service included doctors and pharmacists. Only Vireo Health employees will be permitted to make the deliveries.

When deliveries are made, two employees will handle the transaction. The delivery vehicles will also be company-owned and will have the latest security and safety features. GPS-tracking software will be used in the delivery vehicles for employee and patient safety.

Vireo Health of New York CEO Ari Hoffnung said, “New Yorkers have increasingly come to expect home delivery and we plan on leveraging ‘last mile’ supply chain technologies to meet and exceed patient expectations. We are grateful to the state’s public health and safety officials for their help making this Compassionate Care Act program a reality.”

Chief Medical Officer for Vireo, Dr. Stephen Dahmer said, “Day-in and day-out our goal at Vireo Health of New York is to provide the best possible care and service to our patients. Home delivery will not only help us to improve upon current services, but also expand our reach to those patients who are unable to travel. Our team is excited to provide this service to all of our existing patients, and to have the opportunity to meet new patients in other parts of the state.”

Within the next 90 days, the home delivery service will be available. Patients will know ahead of time what the costs for delivery will be and what the process of ordering/verification will be.
