New York’s Medical Marijuana Law Discussed at Hamburg Meeting

In Hamburg, a town hall style meeting was held on Sunday discussing medical marijuana. One point of the meeting was to inform the attendees of what exactly is legal under New York’s medical marijuana law. The WNY NORML organization organized the meeting.

A variety of speakers were on the meeting’s panel, according to WGRZ 2 News. On the panel were patients and caregivers along with medical professionals and a lawyer. The general consensus is that more access is required to best suit the patients in New York’s medical marijuana program.

Wendy Hart, a patient, said, “I mean, I was on pain pills like crazy the past five years. And in the past year, I’ve decreased from this many pain pills, to now I’m on one and a half a day. I could not have done that without the medical marijuana. Not a chance.”

Before using medical marijuana as treatment for pain, Hart was barely able to get out of bed. She attended to speak about how it really has worked for her and has improved her quality of life.
