New York City Dispensary Begins Unique Advertising Campaign

Dispensary New York City Subway

Advertisements for medical marijuana are showing up in New York City subway systems. Vireo Health launched an ad campaign that says it’s the first campaign of its type in the subway system.

Ari Hoffnung of Vireo Health said, “This historic advertising campaign is designed to encourage New Yorkers of all ages and backgrounds to speak to their doctors about medical marijuana.”

The campaign is aiming to increase awareness about the state’s medical marijuana program, Hoffnung said to New York Daily News. It’s also an attempt to “combat the lingering stigma” that comes with medical marijuana.

Four different posters are displayed in the subway system. Each poster features people of different ages and ethnicities. The headline reads, “Ask Your Doctor About Medical Marijuana.”

Dr. Stephen Dahmer of Vireo Health, said, “Patients should not be afraid to ask their physicians about anything, including medical marijuana.”

Dr. Dahmer said, “Our Ask Your Doctor About Medical Marijuana message is intended to encourage patients, particularly those suffering from chronic pain, to openly explore with their physician whether medical marijuana could be helpful to them.”

On May 16, the New York medical marijuana had 19,321 registered patients. A total of 1,023 physicians have registered to recommend medical marijuana. The MTA has not commented on the advertising campaign yet.
